  1. CSO Meeting: Consolidating Efforts for Effective Engagement on Food and Agriculture Governance in Conjunction with the 31st FAO-ASIA PACIFIC REGIONAL CONFERENCE, MARCH 10-11, 2012 Hanoi, Vietnam

OBJECTIVES • To exchange on the situation of agriculture and food in the region and share experiences with a view to enhancing mutual understanding, solidarity, friendship, and cooperation among CSOs in the Southeast and South Asia for the sustainable development of agriculture . • To analyze the situation of agriculture and food in Asia and the Pacific region and to make recommendations and proactive, active and constructive measures to cope with common challenges. • To facilitate the integration of the Civil Society Mechanism (CSM) for CFS in the FAO-CSO regional processes and promote other innovative CSO mechanisms in the region towards the strengthening of the role and participation of CSOs in the development processes at all levels.

Expected Outputs • Increased mutual understanding, solidarity, friendship and cooperation among the CSOs in Asia and the Pacific region • A consensus on the Common Statement to be submitted to the 31st FAO Regional Conference. • Formulated recommendations on key issues and global processes related to voluntary guidelines on land, global strategic framework, and the Rio + 20 zero draft • Strengthened and improved coordination of CSO mechanisms in Asia and the Pacific region

  5. Day 1 Plenary Session 2: 3:45 pm - 4:45 PM Responses to Challenges: Sustainable/Small Farmer-Oriented Agriculture Development Models and Actions Open Forum: 4:45 – 5:00 pm Break-Out Groups/Workshops: 5:15-6:15 pm Dinner and Solidarity Night : 7pm
