  3. 1.1 National respite Communities of strong relationships that support the lives people choose Support interconnected wellbeing between people with disability, frailty from age, mental illness and their chosen carers, families, and informal supports

  4. 1.2 National Respite • Raise the respite voice: NDIA, DSS • Member services • Research: • Mapping respite outputs • NDIS transition cost/benefit/impact carers, participants, communities government • Volunteer, flexible, family based – cost benefit; social capital • Evaluate innovation: flexible, early intervention • Business transformation : CMS, online tools • National Conference 23-24 October

  6. 5.1 Trial Site Learnings Most families are returning to their current provider Most plans are in the $10 -30 000 range Most families aren’t choosing to self manage funds Majority of people receiving plans have autism or an ID Most providers are registered to provide therapeutic or recreation support

ACT Context • Rolling out over two years • Oct 2014: Children born between 2010 and 12, children not expected to start school 2015/16 • Jan 2015: Years 7-12 transition • 1 April: children enrolled Kindi to Yr 6 • 1 Oct: all remaining children under 15 • The intention is 5000 people at full roll out, with 200 transitioning a month • Currently 30 signed off plans in the ACT
