  3. Who Can Enter • General Contractors and Sub-Contractors are eligible • Independently judged by non-ABC members.

  4. What Projects to Consider • Photo progression of project. • Stellar Safety record. • Unique value. • BIM components. • Positive impact on end user. • Adaptive reuse.

  5. Ease of Entry • Follow entry form. • Keep it simple do not have to add more information than the form asks for. • Read the entire form a couple of times before filing out. • Questions please call ABC. We will provide any assistance.

  6. Categories • Possibility of multiple winners in each category. • There is no guarantee of a winner in specific category. • Keep project in obvious category. • No project or portion of project too small.

  8. Project Overview • Provide the requested information exactly as it should appear in award-related materials and on the award.

  9. Contracted Scope-10 points • Type of construction • Size of project • Contract value • Length of project • % of labor self performed

  10. Project Narrative-36 points • The Project Narrative consist of the following four sections. • Project highlights. • Unique/innovative programs or project elements. • Special or extenuating circumstances. • Passion for the project.

Narrative-Unique Innovative Programs Project Elements Example Winner Sample • Personnel management • Quality Control • Scheduling • Engineering • Owner Value • Full onsite mockups were built, guaranteeing all materials and specifications were correct and approved by the Owner and Architect before implemented in the field.

Narrative-Extenuating Circumstances Example Winner Sample • Degree of difficulty • Compressed schedule • Unforeseen condition • Human aspect • Site condition • Space restrictions • Multiple shifts • When construction began, the design of the bell tower had not been finalized. In order to make the schedule, we had to begin construction, so when the final design was chosen, our team had to scramble to find a way to incorporate this new structure seamlessly into the existing building, which was already well under way. Our team met extensively to discuss how this would be done.

  17. Endorsement/References-10 points • Mandatory! • General contractor needs a letter from owner. • Sub contractors need from either general or owner.

  18. Media Coverage-5 points • Submit any press coverage of the project. • Positive impact on the community.

  19. AQC-1 point • Indicate whether or not your company is AQC accredited.

  20. ABC Member Involvement- bonus 3 points • Promotes the ABC community. • Use Jobsite 123 to verify membership.

  21. Green Projects • LEED • Energy Star

  22. Tips for Success • Read through completely before filing out. • Follow directions. • Clarity/specific language. • Proofread typos. • Convey passion. • Avoid clichés. • Plan ahead/ look at every project as potential winner.
