  4. eBenefits Overview • Joint Veterans Affairs (VA)/ Department of Defense (DoD) self-service web portal • A secure, personalized point of entry that offers 24/7 access • Research and development of the concept was initiated in March 2007 through the Dole/Shalala Commission • Quarterly software updates and releases keep this one-stop shop up to date

  10. eBenefits Registration: Veteran is not in DEERS If a Veteran is not in DEERS, they will receive an error. • There are 3 types of Error Codes that could display on the screen when a Veteran is unable to register for eBenefits because they are not in DEERS: • Error Code[P1]: The personal information you provided was not found in DEERS. • Error Code[P6]: Based on the information you provided, your DEERS record reflects that you may be ineligible to obtain a DS Logon. • Error Code[P7]: The personal information you entered does not match the information found in DEERS • If these problems persist, call the DMDC/DEERS Support Office (DSO) at 800-538-9552 for assistance. Currently, Veterans can be validated and request to be added to DEERS by contacting a regional office or by calling our call centers at 1 800-827-1000 option 7, if they are in receipt of VA payments and have a direct deposit account. Normal turn around time is 2 business days.

  11. eBenefits Registration Next, the Veteran will be required to create a password. Once a password is created and confirmed, click Continue.

  12. eBenefits Registration User will select “Challenge Questions” from those provided. After completing five challenge questions, click Continue.

  13. eBenefits Registration Select one image and create a short phrase.

  14. eBenefits Registration Veteran now has an eBenefits account. The process is almost complete. • Note: Username should be saved somewhere safe as shown below. Note: May also have a number for common last names.

  15. eBenefits Registration Select “I have none of the above” if you do not have a DFAS account.

  16. eBenefits Registration Click on ‘Begin’ to proceed with the Remote Proofing process.

  19. eBenefits Registration The user will have four minutes to select the correct answers to the Remote Proofing Quiz. Once this is complete, click Submit. If more than one question is answered incorrectly, an extra question will be asked.

  20. eBenefits Registration If you get one question wrong, you will get another. If you cannot pass the Remote Proofing process the system will lock you out for 72 hours

SEP and D2D: Comparisons • D2D Release 1 Scope • Submit Fully Developed Claims (FDC) • Submit the 21-22 Electronically, First if needed • Submit the 526 Electronically with attachments • Attach all other supporting documents to the 526 • Integrate with MVI • Challenges of D2D • VA will only accept the submission date of the claim, 4138 can be submitted • Dependency claims will not go through the Rules Based Processing System (RBPS) • Cannot view claim status or payment history • Work queue to review applications is in a future release
