  1. MISSION: POSSIBLE! SUCCESS, NOTHING LESS! Westlawn/Huntsville City Student Handbook

  2. Your mission, should you choose to accept it: • Achieve success during the 2012-13 school year through working with mission commanders (teachers), agents (students), and administrators. BEWARE! This mission may be dangerous, potentially destroying all of your bad habits. Should you complete this mission, you will be rewarded with great academic achievement!

  3. Mission Guidelines • The school building opens at 7:30 AM. Carefully enter the building, going directly to designated areas. Be careful to not be detected in unauthorized areas – if you do, you may be apprehended by a mission commander or administrator.

  4. Mission Guidelines - TIME • Breakfast will be in homeroom beginning at 7:45 AM. If you arrive at school later than 8:00 AM – YOU ARE LATE!! • Excessive tardiness will cause your mission to self-destruct, so BE ON TIME! • See page 9 of the student handbook for a complete bell schedule. Punctuality is CRITICAL to the success of your mission.

  5. Mission Guidelines - TIME • Morning tardy policy: • 1st tardy – ISS until 2nd period • 2nd tardy – ISS until 4th period • 3rd tardy – ISS ALL DAY • 4th tardy – Out of school suspension

  6. Mission Guidelines - ATTENDANCE • ATTENDANCE TO SCHOOL IS KEY TO MISSION COMPLETION. An absence is excused only with a written explanation from parent/guardian/physician within 2 days of the absence. • See p. 8 of the Westlawn Student Handbook for the disastrous effects of unexcused absences.

  7. Mission Guidelines – LUNCH (Agent Fuel) • Lunch price $1.50 • All agents are urged to eat lunch every day. A mission can only be successful with strong healthy agents on board.

Mission Guidelines – LUNCH (Agent Fuel) • Agents should display appropriate manners while in the cafeteria • Agents should remain seated at assigned tables, quietly discussing mission success • Agents will be lined up in single-file to receive food. • Agents will enter and exit the cafeteria under the direction of mission leader (teacher)

Mission Guidelines – Cell Phones/ Electronic Devices • Agent commanders and administrators will collect any cell phone or electronic device that is seen or in use during school hours and turn it in to the front office for parents to pick up. • Refer to page 28 of the Huntsville City Schools Official Student/Parent Handbook for complete policy

Mission Guidelines – Agent Discipline • Agents are entitled to a training center conducive to mission success • In the unfortunate event that an agent does not comply with mission guidelines, a discipline plan will be followed in dealing with said agents. See pg 12 of handbook. • ALL AGENTS ARE EXPECTED TO BEHAVE!

  18. Mission Guidelines – Weapons • At Westlawn Mission Training Facility, missions are accomplished through education and smart decision-making. WEAPONS ARE NOT PERMITTED! Students may not possess the following: pocket knife, table knife, brass knuckles, glass bottles, chains, bars, guns, water guns, rocks, or toy guns.

Mission Guidelines – Hazardous Substances • The possession, distribution, or consumption of alcoholic beverages or drugs (as well as drug parephernalia) on school property is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to: alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, prescription drugs, cigarettes, cigars, etc. • Any agent in violation of this policy will be subject to expulsion • Authorized medication will be kept and administered by the nurse or assigned school personnel (see p. 18 Westlawn Handbook)

  23. Mission Guidelines - Consequences • Detention – Agents will be assigned detention by a mission commander (teacher) if they break rules. Failure to attend detention will result in doubling the detention time, then referral to ISS. • ISS (In School Suspension) – Agents will remain on training grounds, but removed from classroom in an isolated setting • OSS (Out of School Suspension) – Agents may not attend school for specified amount of time
