  12. WHY??? • Students are introduced to the realities of global inequalities, hunger, and scarcity. • This simulation provokes life-altering and hopefully - sustainable change in one’s thinking and the expectations students set for themselves as global citizens. • These are not lectures; they are simulation experiences that highlights characteristics of a global perspective such as social justice and the importance of sustainable development.

  13. What is the Global Village??? The Global Village project is a partnership between Heifer International, an organization whose mission is to end hunger and poverty and care for the earth, and Howell Conference and Nature Center. The Heifer Global Village Challenge program will give our students an unforgettable walk in the shoes of another person’s reality. In this powerful simulation, our students will take a “journey” to villages far removed from their everyday life. They will experience the daily struggles people in poverty face daily. Students are given very little to eat, and they must build a fire to cook their meal. At night, students will sleep in simple housing, such as an African mud hut.
