BOSTON UNIVERSITY Science and Engineering Program • Science and Engineering Program (SEP) • Founded in the 1980’s, SEP’s mission is to enhance students’ skills in introductory science and engineering subjects, thus improving academic performance and likelihood of professional success. • A two year transitional program for high school graduates who do not receive direct admission to the College of Arts and Sciences or the College of Engineering are referred to SEP. FYE- February 2008

BOSTON UNIVERSITY Science and Engineering Program • College of Arts and Sciences MajorsCollege of Engineering Majors • Astronomy Aerospace • Biology Biomedical • Chemistry Computer Systems • Computer Science Electrical • Earth Sciences Manufacturing • Geography and Environment Mechanical • Mathematics • Physics • SEP students may pursue pre-medical, pre-dentistry, and pre- veterinary programs of study along with a science or engineering major. • SEP students are guaranteed continuation at College of Arts and Sciences or College of Engineering provided that they earn a grade of C or better in science, mathematics, and major courses and possess a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher at the end of the sophomore year. BOSTON UNIVERSITY Science and Engineering Program SEP BY THE NUMBERS Snapshot of the Classes Admitted 2004-2006 59%of students indicate a science interest upon admission and 24% of these students switch to non-science majors. 95%of students who indicate an engineering interest upon admission continue in engineering. 95-100%of students will earn a BU degree within four years.
