Process of mummification 4th hour History Megan Burleigh 11-6-06
Introduction hi my fellow friends I’m Senesrat and my father is an embalmer and today he is going to wrap the body of a little kid named Heka who died at the age of 5. So come with me on a journey all about mummification. Right this way,
Step 1- Remove Organs • Cut a slit in the chest and pull out the organs by hand • Leave the heart • We believe removing the heart means the Ka would not recognize his/her body
Canonic jars Falcon Jar Jackal Jar Baboon jar Human Jar Qebehsenuef Duamutef Hapy Imsety
Removing the brain -Once the organs were out and in their jars they remove the brain -To remove the brain they used a hook tool
Drying out the body -It takes around 40 days for the drying process to be completely finished -My dad dried Heka in salt called natron -The body would become thinner and darker
wrapping -Hands and feet -body -Things they put in the tombs
Tombs -Things they put in the tombs -What was on the tombs
