  1. VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION

Why? • Our Goal is to adopt out 400 pets in less than 48 hours! • This will greatly increase the live release rate in OKC • Promoting adoption over buying a pet • Spreading the word about animal welfare in OKC …Did you know?The Oklahoma City Animal Welfare Division accepts on average 100 animals a day?

  3. Location, Location, Location… • The event will be held in the parking lot of the Memorial and N. Penn PetSmart. • The address is 2140 W. Memorial Rd. • All parking is free, but please park in the lot of the empty Westies Shoes building, located behind the tents.

  4. Volunteer Responsibilities • Staying in your assigned areas • Following the job description for your area • Welcoming visitors and answering questions • Handing out OK Humane brochures • Other duties as assigned

  5. Volunteer Rules • The Volunteers must stay in their areas unless they request a floater to fill their spot for a break • Night shifts: volunteers must be awake at all times • Length appropriate shorts or jeans (no holes/tears) and volunteer t-shirt supplied by OK Humane. Closed toed shoes only please. • If you are unable to come to your shift, call Amy at (405) 213-8788

  6. Volunteer Areas • The areas where we will have volunteers are: • Welcome/Giveaway Table • Cat Area • Dog Area • Adoption Table • Adoption Form Escorts • Meet & Greet (will double as a floater) • Kids’ Activities • Floaters

  7. Shift Times - Saturday • Set Up Shifts • Friday, October 22 : 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM • Friday, October 22 : 5:00 PM – 10 PM • Fri/Sat, October 22/23: 11:00 PM – 3:00 AM • Saturday, October 23: 3:00 AM – 7:00 AM • Saturday, October 23: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM • Saturday, October 23: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM • Saturday, October 23: 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM

  8. Shift Times - Sunday • Sat/Sun, October 23/24: 10:00 PM – 3:00 AM • Sunday, October 24: 3:00 AM– 7:00 AM • Sunday, October 24: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM • Sunday, October 24: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM • Break Down Shift • Sunday, October 24: 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM

  9. Resources • Chairs will be available at the event • During busy times we ask that all volunteers are standing and greeting visitors • Snacks and bottled water (Provided by Sonic) will be available throughout the day in the PetSmart Meeting Room • Meal times are at 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM. • Overnight volunteers should bring snacks if they feel they will get hungry

  10. Resources • PetSmart will be open 24/7 after kick-off • Port-o-potty will be available to use at the event site • If you need to go inside PetSmart, you will need to report to an OK Humane Staff member or a lead Volunteer first. This is to make sure we have a floater that can cover your area
