  2. CRES Vision, Mission, and Beliefs Vision Crooked River Elementary School builds a strong foundation that enables students to achieve future success. Mission We will ensure educational excellence in a safe, nuturing environment where all students can reach their potential for success.

Beliefs • A safe, nurturing environment is essential for student learning. • Everyone can learn. • A positive connection between school, family, and community is vital to learning. • Accountability is essential and applies to all stakeholders: student, family, school, and community. • Students learn best when challenged and motivated. • Effective classroom and school wide management is essential to learning. • Teachers will use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of all learners.

  4. Why be a volunteer in my child’s school ? • We’re all on the same team. We’re all working together toward the same goal-your child’s SUCCESS! • Spend time in your child’s school. This will give you an opportunity to see, first hand, how teachers and staff manage students and curriculum.

  5. Administrator Expectations • Be professional • Be consistent • Be punctual • Be positive • Be supportive • Be confidential • Be nurturing • Be patient

  6. SERVICES VOLUNTEERS CAN PERFORM • listening to children read • providing clerical assistance to teachers • cutting out letters • making games and activities • Reading to children

  7. Remember you are a role model to students. Remember you are considered a professional non-paid staff member. Remember…we need your help! Volunteers need to make babysitting arrangements. Be sure to sign in and out. Be sure to wear your name tag. Check with the teacher if you don’t know what to do. Volunteer Procedures

  8. WORKING WITH STUDENTS • Build student self-confidence • Let the students do what they can on their own-just assist • Discuss the student and his/her progress WITH THE TEACHER ONLY!

  9. Do’s & Don'ts • Show up on time. • Bring a positive attitude. • Be flexible. • Dress comfortably, but professionally. • Report concerns to teacher. • Don’t handle discipline issues. • Don’t bring items such as candy, money for students
