Parent Orientation

Welcome to the Fifth Grade Parent Orientation at Lakewood Elementary! Meet our dedicated teachers: Kim Hines (Math/Science), Judy Moore, LaGay Pittenger, Anna Tuma (Reading/ELA), Jason Trumble (Math/Science), and Sarah Wilson (Math/Science, Reading/Language Arts). Each child receives 150 minutes of daily instruction, including 60 minutes of reading and writing and 30 minutes of word study. Our grading policy and behavior expectations are outlined in the BISD Student Handbook. Stay connected through the Monday Memo, and feel free to reach out via email with any questions.   3. Reading/Language Arts • Every child gets 150 minutes a day • 30 minutes of Word Study Grammar, Vocabulary, Test Strategies • 60 minutes of Reading • 60 minutes of Writing Reading STAAR Test

  4. Math andScience • Journals • Laboratory Investigations • Math Homework • IXL

  5. Grading Policy • A = 90 – 100 • B = 80 – 89 • C = 75 – 79 • D = 70 – 74 • 69 & below is failing per the handbook • 10 points can be deducted for each day late • Extra credit can be given at teacher discretion • Refer to BISD Student Handbook for further information

  7. Safety Patrol • Demonstration of Lakewood Tiger Traits • To protect and aid other students • To foster leadership and good citizenship.
