  10. Reading Students are required to read for 30 minutes 5 times a week and complete a book project each month that reflects what they are reading. Some of this time may happen during school. Spelling There will be four spelling assignments each week that will be done in their spelling notebook. All assignments will be due each Friday. Weekly spelling practice will also take place in school. This practice includes working with words, word meaning, and editing for spelling. Weekly Expectations

Social Studies • Geography • Government • (United States, Canada, and Mexico) • Westward Expansion • Slavery • Civil War Studying/Testing – Each student will be required to bring notes home to study prior to tests. They will be expected to study both notes and quizzes for their tests. Homework- Some reading assignments will be assigned along with a few projects.

Parent Connect/PowerSchool You can log onto PowerSchool to view your child’s individual grades and assignment information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! • Go to www.midlakes.org • Click on the “Parent Connect” link on the left under “Quick Links” • Username: par followed by your child’s ID number (example: par12345) • Password: your child’s birthday using the full year and no leading zeros (example: March 4, 1999 would be 341999)
