In-Camera Editing If you don't have any editing software and you can only edit from the camera that you are using to film on, you have to either film each shot you need in a sequential order, so that that the final scene makes sense when you play the footage back.

In-Camera Editing If you don't have any editing software and you can only edit from the camera that you are using to film on, you have to either film each shot you need in a sequential order, so that that the final scene makes sense when you play the footage back.   3. Manipulation of Diegetic Time and Space Manipulation of Diegetic Time and Space is when a film uses effects for age or time change. Either a person to an object or even an environment is shown either getting younger or getting older. There are many films which uses this technique but a famous film is The Time Machine, as the man is in the time machine and the environment changes as he is travelling through time.   5. Storytelling Some films use a storytelling technique, where there would be some sort of narration telling the story of the film whilst the events are taking place. A good example of this is in the film Bedtime Stories as Adam Sandler is narrating a story whilst he is actually acting out his story in a different scene.   7. Purposes of Editing – Why is it important? • Okay…so you’ve got a story to tell through film. Let’s discuss the purpose (reasons) for editing your footage well… • Good editing will help engage your viewers • It will help develop drama • Create motivation • Will combine shots into sequences • Create pace (how slow or fast the story is told) • TASK – Find one movie or trailer that you like and • See if you can identify different editing • techniques. • Can you spot any jump cuts, cross cuts,transitions? • Are there different types of shots? • What makes the film successful?
