AFA Vision Mission • Happy healthy, empowered family farming communities Free from hunger and poverty Happy Good health Live in peace and prosperity Own or have access and control over the lands we till Nurture farmlands through appropriate, integrated, envi-friendly tech Fair market for products Have control over goods and services Self reliant Educated Able to participate in development processes Through politically strong, socilly responsive, culturally sensitive, economically viable farmers organizations.

  4. AFA priority FF issues • recognition of family farmers esp women and young farmers, • land rights • investments for sustainable agro ecological approaches by family farmers • increased market power of farmers • meaningful participation of FF in agri-related decision –making processes • promoting agriculture among the youth • ---- all of these with a gender and youth lens.

  5. What Can AFA contribute to MTCP2 • Our member organizations’ experiences -organizing and consolidating farmers and their groups at ---- national, sub regional and regional levels ----along commodity/crop lines -promoting sustainable, agro-ecological approaches -mainstreaming gender in our work; involving and empowering our women members -cooperative/ collective marketing/ value addition -constructive engagement with government

  6. What Can AFA contribute to MTCP2 • Our regional organization’s experience in --conducting policy consultations among farmers on various issues --conducting exchange visits, farmer-to-farmer exchanges, facilitating bilateral cooperation among members --working with ASEAN --working with IGOs (FAO, IFAD, CFS) --program and financial management

  7. What Can AFA contribute to MTCP2 • AFA’s representation as farmers’ representative in -research-focused institutions : GFAR, APAARI, Prolinnova -GAFSP (CSO Asia representative) -Farmers Forum -Civil Society Mechanism for CFS -World Consultative Committee of WRF

  8. We hope that with MTCP2, the capacities of our members in delivering services and in engaging with policy work will be strengthened – at national and regional levels.
