  1. Carmel Dads Club2014 Spring Rec Plus Program

Overview • 2013 was the first year of the new program • Responding to requests for opportunity to play more baseball but not the equivalent of travel • Maintain level of play of traditional Rec leagues • Play teams of like talent • Other Hamilton County Program Participants: • Westfield • Noblesville

  3. General Structure • 1st and 2nd grade combined • At least 2 Rec Plus teams • Westfield and Noblesville plan to limit their teams to 2nd grade only but CDC has traditionally allowed 1st grade to play Rec Plus • 3rd and 4th grades (separate teams) • Number of teams to be determined after try outs • Up to 12 players per team

General Structure • Players who make a Rec Plus team will also play on a Rec team • Rec Plus players will have Rec league participation requirements in order to be eligible to play in Rec Plus games • Cost - $125 (in addition to Rec league fees) • Covers: 2 uniforms, umpires, field maintenance, etc.

  5. Tryouts • Where: Carmel High School Field house • When: Sunday, March 2 • 1st and 2nd grade: 2-4 PM • 3rd and 4th grade: 4-6 PM • Skills to be assessed: • Hitting – both off tee and live pitching • Fielding • Catching • Throwing

  6. Teams • Notification of selection: TBD • Coaches: • Son must be selected to Rec Plus team • Prospective Coaches to meet with commissioners on Sunday February 16th, 7:00pm at CDC. • Skill level will be distributed evenly among teams • No “A” or “B” team

  7. Regular Season • Rec Plus players will practice with their Rec teams during the week (1 practice per week) • Rec league practices start week of April 14 (after Spring Break) • Rec Plus teams may have some practices before Spring Break if there is facility space available. Days and times TBD. • Rec league games on Saturdays - starting April 26 • Rec Plus teams will practice on Sunday April 20 and 27. • No scheduled Rec Plus practices once season starts. • Rec Plus games to begin Sunday May 4. • 7 games (all on Sunday). There may be one double header. • No Game Memorial Day Weekend • Season Ends June 29 with a County Tournament • Seeding determined on blind draw • Carmel hosted games at Wodock Facility. • Each team will be allowed to play in one travel tournament in July selected by coach
