  4. Strengthening of Iran • Iran has been working for years now since the beginning of the war with Iraq began • Strong ties with the Shiites help defend borders • Invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan by the U.S. have made it safer

  5. Iraqi Government • Before the fall of Sadam Hussein in 2003, The Ba’ath Party officially ruled -The Iraqi Government was weakened when U.S. troops stormed in and took action.

  6. DeBa’athification • This was the goal for the U.S. to eliminate the influence of the Baath party on the Iraqi Government • The process was highly controversial as the action interfered with U.S. policies • The goal was to create a stable democratic Iraqi Government

  7. Disbanding the Iraqi Military • There was no formal and organized Iraqi Military • Much of the military consisted of Iraqi citizens who disproved of the U.S. trying to take control
