  1. How to Register for UF/IFAS In-Service Training Programs

  2. Navigate to PDEC Web site. Then click on In-service Training.

  3. Click on 2011 Programs.

  4. Upcoming programs are listed in chronological order by Start Date. Use the blue arrows to sort the list by IST#, title, session type, or date. Click on Whole Year to see 2011 Programs that have already occurred.

  5. Use the blue bar to filter 2011 Programs by Goal or Program Area. Click on the button to toggle between the two.

  6. Funding Source indicates how your travel and expense will be funded. Click on a button to filter programs by a specific type. • If the program is State-funded you will be given fund codes to use when you submit your travel paperwork. • The Faculty Lead or Primary Contact will provide fund codes and instructions for travel reimbursement for Grant-funded travel. • Self-funded programs (typically distance learning) does not cover any travel and expense.

  7. Don’t have a GatorLink Username and Password? You can’t register here but you can view the agenda by clicking on the IST Title.

  8. Click View or Register to see program details, including all session dates and locations, instructors, agenda, etc. If a program is set to View this means the instructor has not yet activated the registration process.

  9. If you are a UF employee (including courtesy appointments) and do not have a GatorLink username and password, go to your unit administrator or http://gatorlink.ufl.edu. Non-UF employees cannot register for IST programs in this system. They can contact the instructor and view the agenda from the 2011 Programs list.

  10. Read details about the program. Click on Agenda to see more information or to print a copy. Review the date(s) of each session. Some trainings have more than one session and some sessions have more than one date.

  11. Check the box for the date(s) and session(s) you want to attend.

  12. The first time you select a date, the registration cart immediately appears at the top of the page. Each time you select a date it appears in your cart.

  13. To remove a session from the cart, uncheck the box or in the case of a single date such as this example, use the “Check here if you want to cancel…” The session should disappear from your cart and if it is the only session in your cart, the entire cart will disappear from the screen.

  14. Due to limited state funds, UF/IFAS restricts state-funded travel and expense. If you will cover your own travel and expense due to close proximity of the training, having a grant that pays these expenses, or paying out of pocket, please check the box circled below. This helps UF/IFAS administration estimate travel costs more precisely as well as let your DED know he should not count this as one of your ‘state-funded’ travel days, which are limited.

  15. If you need more information about the program, scroll down the page to find the faculty lead and primary contact. When registering for a program be sure to read all information, including notes from the instructor at the bottom of the page.

  16. Click on Session List to return to 2011 Programs and register for more IST programs.

  17. As you add more sessions you may want to use the arrows icon in the lower right-hand corner to expand the list and see all your selections. To reduce the cart size, click on the arrows again.

  18. Check to make sure the county displayed is your correct county. This ensures that the registration request is routed to the appropriate DED. State faculty should select ‘State Specialist’; in this case, trainings are not routed but automatically approved. We pre-populated this field but new faculty or those who have moved to another county or position recently may have to select from the drop down list.

  19. After you have selected all your programs and session dates, click Submit to DED for DED approval. (Note, you can register for more classes later.) When you add sessions to your cart they will appear in black font. The DED reviews your request and will either approve or deny each selection. Approved trainings will change to green font; denied will be crossed out. If you make changes to the approved or denied trainings in your cart, the DED will need to approve or deny the revised registration request.

  20. Next time you return, click on My Programs to log in and see the IST training registrations in your cart.

  21. Click here to view prior year programs and registrations. Contact Tyann Haile if you forgot your old IST password.
