At Gordon Terrace Elementary School in Cranbrook, BC, we are committed to helping the Earth through education and action. Our ongoing projects include a comprehensive compost program, recycling initiatives for paper, plastic, tin, and cardboard, and the responsible recycling of milk cartons and juice boxes. Students actively participate in vermicomposting and maintain a native garden. Environmental education is integrated into the curriculum with the support of teachers and community organizations. Ongoing projects • Compost program throughout the school • Recycling program for paper, plastic, tin and cardboard throughout the school • Milk cartons from lunch are collected and recycled • Juice box containers are collected and returned • Several classrooms have vermicomposting • Native and nature garden is looked after by students • Education about the environment is taught in classrooms by teachers, Wildsight programs and other community members. • Outdoor Club for students is run by teachers • Some students have prepared nature guides for local parks
