NCDC Headquarters in Asheville, NC • NCDC is part of the federal government National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). • NCDC is the steward of the Nation’s weather and climate information. • NCDC archives 3,200 terabytes of data electronically and provides 25 terabytes of data monthly. • NCDC also archives and rescues historical paper records with over 100 million pages in 125,000 boxes on-site. • Host the World Data Center for Meteorology • IBTrACS is under the auspices of the WDC.

International Best Track Archive for Climate Stewardship IBTrACS Development IBTrACS is a young project Developed in cooperation with international agencies Combines data from multiple sources IBTrACS Uses New climate inventory of global tropical cyclones GIS applications and integration with other data 20th Century Reanalysis Project Climate Models Dozens of registered users and hundreds have downloaded IBTrACS data
