Action on Inclusion Levels of Support and Engaging and Connecting Students Through Technology Projects 2012-2013 • PROJECT 3(Ipod/Ipads)Specialized- Dedicated EA time, specialists support or alternative placement • PROJECT 2 ( All from Project 1 Plus SpeakQ)Targeted-Focused supports, flexible groupings, assistive technology, IPPs etc. • PROJECT 1 (WordQ, digital textbooks, digital story telling, home use, vocabulary development, other software for instructions and demonstrating learning. ) Universal-Includes access to DI(Differentiated Instruction), UDL(Universal Design for Learning), assessment for learning and technology

  5. What does participation in projects 1 and 2 mean to me?

  6. What do we do? Each school was offered half a cart. (Some schools had enough) As part of this arrangement, we support you for the year in using WordQand/or SpeakQ, Digital Textbook Use and other digital tools for instruction and demonstrating learning through: Professional Development Day Collaborative sharing opportunities and opportunities to visit teachers in their classrooms who have used the technology previously. Instructional coaches coming to your classroom and providing support for you and your students. Website for sharing, collaborating and support. There will be a “Certification of Recognition” for those who complete the Projects. There will be a draw for a netbook that you can keep for your classroom after you have completed the Projects. (Several)

What do you have to do? • Use the WordQ and/or SpeakQ daily. • Use digital textbooks, digital storytelling or reporting and other digital tools flexibly to remove barriers, for engagement and to demonstrate learning as needed. • Write a goal and monitor progress. • Goal in by Oct. 15 • First progress report January 31 • Final progress report May 15 • Answer short survey by Oct. 15, January 31 and May 15. • Enjoy the adventure.

Sample Goals for Students using WordQ/SpeakQ in Projects 1 and 2 Goals that can be used for the class: • By the end of the year, ___ will demonstrate proficient use of WordQ and/or SpeakQ and/or digital textbooks to meet his/her individual needs 100% of the time. • By the end of the year,_____ will use the spellcheck on MSWord and the readback feature on WordQ to independently edit his/her writing with __ % accuracy. • By the end of the year, ____ will use word predictor with unit words/AISI academic vocabulary words/ELL benchmark lists daily and score __% higher on unit vocabulary tests (any subject)/ AISI academic vocabulary tests than scores achieved at the beginning of the year. • By the end of the year, ____ will use word predictor lists daily and score __% higher on standardized spelling tests than scores achieved at the beginning of the year.

Goals that can be used for individuals: • By the end of the year, ___will write paragraphs/stories/essays that meet grade level standards. • By the end of the year, ___ will read grade level material with 70% comprehension. • By the end of the year, ___ will read grade level material to participate fully in classroom assignments and discussions. • By the end of the year, ___ write grade level paragraphs/stories/essays for each assignment. • By the end of the year, ___ will read grade level material with 70% comprehension. • By the end of the year, ___ will read grade level material to participate fully in classroom assignments and discussions. *Rating will be 25% Achieved, 50% Achieved, 75% Achieved and 100% Achieved on the survey.

Strategic Transitions WordQSite License –Yearly Student Home Activation License • To activate WordQ and (SpeakQ if applicable). • Download free software from the WordQ/SpeakQ website by going to http://www.goqsoftware.com. The software may say 30 day trial. Do not concern yourself with that as the password will allow you to keep it until the end of August, 2012. (It may take a great deal of time to download if you live in the country, but you will be able to download it. ) • Access the Community website by going to http://community.strategictransitions.com. • Use the login and password as shown here. • Your User Name is: Contact your teacher and your password is:  Contact your teacher • Select “Files” from the top menu. • Select the “WordQ 3 En Win (or Mac) Home access” folder. • Select the WordQ activation link. • Select “Run”. • Select “Unzip”. • It is important to note that the activation expires on September 1st and will have to be renewed yearly for continued use of this program. • *** Schools may be provided with a new Password each year, or the Password may be reset.

  13. Moving Forward in 2012-2013Expanding the Scope-Continued • New website: • Referral form (SETT Framework) for lending library and instructional coaching in the classrooms. (requests for classroom visits will still be handled via email) • Subject specific vocabulary- our target – a vocabulary lists for each subject and each unit so teachers can quickly import them to WordQ. Some words will have definitions and synonyms and teachers will be able to send in their own lists as well. • Links to demo videos for software we are using in the Projects etc. • Videos of best practices in the Golden Hills Division • Apps we are using and descriptions of them • Recommended e-learning websites • Trouble shooting Tips for the netbooks, WordQ/SpeakQ, ipods/ipads • FAQ
