WAC Celebrate Hispanic Heritage MonthWednesday, October 31, 2012 during periods 3-8This program was designed for you!  You have read about it, heard about it, been emailed and white boarded!  Join us for this program that has been months in the making!Twelve presenters from business, government and education here at NAI    Topics you want to learn about--- The environment, energy sustainability, careers where foreign language skills are necessary, immigration, economic growth, cultural influences, travel/volunteer programs 

  4. If you have had a taco, burrito, enchiladas or a chimichanga during 2012---YOU SHOULD BE ATTENDING THE CELEBRATION! Even Miss Serdy's Donkey Pinata, who lives in the GOAL Office, will  attend the Hispanic Heritage Celebration!

  5. Informational Meeting with Ms. Karen Narkavic Are you interested in attending these prestigious summer programs during high school?   The Health Career Scholars Academy          University of  Pittsburgh         The Pennsylvania School for Global Entreprenuership         Lehigh University Join us for a one-half hour information session on these programs which are former  PA Governer's Schools.  Ms. Narkavic can answer your questions and provide assistance with the application.  

  6. The Brain Program ! Presented by the Department of Neurobiology University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine on Wednesday, November 15th Where:  NAI Library during periods 3 and 4                  (9:10 - 10:35 a.m.) You will find out how our brains function through hands-on work stations led by the University of Pittsburgh staff.  Students will also have time to ask questions about current research regarding: reaction time, schizophrenia, Altzheimers, concussions and memory loss.

Business Careers DayTuesday, November 20, 2012on the campus of Robert Morris University___________________________________________ _______________________________________   Accounting and Taxation                         Management   Economics and Legal Studies                 Marketing   Hospitality and Tourism                          Sports  Mgmt • Chose from 20 sessions • Learn about  different business majors • Hands-on, break out sessions • Only 20 students from NAI can attend

  8. MOCK TRIAL Join us as an attorney or witness and be a part of the MOCK TRIAL in January at Duquesne Law School. Our case this year will be available in on November 2nd.  We are doing the 2013 case which has not yet been released by PABAR.org  We have 5 one-hour meetings after school to prepare your team for the trial. 

  9. How do you join the MOCK TRIAL TEAM? Complete an application and submit it to the GOAL Office ASAP.  There will be 24 spots for lawyers and witnesses. The case and the application form will be available on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 in front of the GOAL office.  Read the case and all the directions.  Submit your application ASAP to get one of the 24 spots! Our first meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 19th from 2:30 -3:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.

  11. Students wishing to participate in the Science Bowl will be required to complete a preliminary exam. Team member will be selected based upon results of this exam.   The test date will be posted in the GOAL officeand on the GOAL website.

  12. Engineering Problem Solving Workshop A HANDS-ON WORKSHOP BUILD, CREATE, PROBLEM SOLVE !!!!!!! NOVEMBER 8, 2012 Leave NAI 8:30 am                          Return NAI 1:45 pm • RMU Department of Engineering Professors will review the Engineering Problem Solving Process.   • Teams of 6-8 students will be given 30 minutes to solve a problem.   • Random teams will then be selected to defend their process and solution.    • RMU professors will complete each round by discussing the actual process and solution.  • We will complete three rounds.  • The problems will be based on a Freshmen Engineering Skill Set but will apply the high school mathematics and science concepts • The problems will also be applied to real-life engineering concepts • Students should bring calculators and be prepared to work together in teams of  6-8 students

You do NOT have to have computer programming experience to sign up for this activity.   We need: Artists, Writers, Idea People, Musicians, Computer Programmers and People interested in learning more about programming. Come to the Auditorium Foyer during Homeroom on Friday, November 9th to find out more!!

  16. Attention All Freshmen! If you did NOT have your GIEP conference already it means yours was completed in the Spring. We still want to personally welcome you to the GOAL program! Stop by the GOAL office during your lunch period to sign up for an Introductory Interview.  THIS IS ONLY FOR FRESHMEN GOAL STUDENTS WHO DID NOT HAVE A GIEP THIS FALL!
