  2. Research question • Would there be any direct impact from the closing of the NASA Space Program other than job losses devaluing of real estate of land occupied by the Space Program and surrounding areas?

Some historical facts about Our Topic: • What is NASA? • What does the acronym means? • Which U.S. President started the Space Program? • Which year did the first outer space mission launch and what was it's name? • Why did the U.S create the space program? In other words what was the objective of the space program?

Continuance of questions • How much money a year is being budgeted to run the space program? • What Governmental department is running NASA? • How many missions have NASA flown to outer space since inception? • Which U.S President made the decision to close the Space Program? And why did they decide to close the program? • What is the next step or future plans for the space program?

  5. What is N.A.S.A? • N.A.S.A. is what controls the U.S. Science and technology that has to do with airplanes and space. N.A.S.A. stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administrations.

  6. What does N.A.S.A. Means? • The National Aeronautics and Space Administration or (N.A.S.A) is the Governmental agency that controls our space program

  7. Why NASA started • Why did the U.S created the space program? In other words what was the objective of the space program? • According to "nasa.gov," its purpose was “to direct the nation's space flight and research program.” And to find out if there was any other life outside of our Planet, and if there's more than one Universe.

  8. Which U.S. President started the Space Program? • Dwight D. Eisenhower was the President that signed the Bill that birthed N.A.S.A into Law, quoted in nasa.gov.

  9. Which year did the first outer space mission was launch and what was it's name? • The first space mission was called "Mercury Redstone 3".

  11. However, Orbital flight was not achieved until February 20, 1962 when John Glenn's Mercury-Atlas 6 successfully orbited the Earth. These very first flights changed history for the United Stated Aeronautics agency because they were direct response to the Soviet Union launching of the Sputnik-1.

  12. Budgets • How much money a year is being budgeted to run the space program? • NASA's annual budget is around 17.6 billion dollars a year. All this money is donated to pay for the building, the people, the shuttle, and all the fuel and metal etc.

  15. Who runs NASA? • What Governmental department is running NASA? • The Governmental Department that runs NASA is General Service Administration, or (GSA).

Number of missions flown by NASA • How many missions have NASA flown to outer space since inception? • Since the inception of NASA there has been 131 complete space shuttle launches spanning from the years 1982 to 2010. However, the tentative final launch for the program was scheduled to lift off on April 29,2011 which will be the shuttle's 134th launch till completion. But it was delayed until May 17

  18. Who and why is NASA closing • Which U.S President made the decision to close the Kennedy Space Program? • And why did they decide to close the program? • President "Obama is shutting down N.A.S.A because the economy is low and doesn't have enough money to fund NASA" quoted in (nasa.gov).

  19. Why are we researching this topic? • The purpose of this research is to shed light on any valid research that has yielded substantial findings on how much impact would the closing of the Space Program have on our society.

We are concerned that the closing of the space program will eliminate or end the United States ability of being a competitive nation in the space age program thus, rendering the United States inferior to out perform other nations like: Russia, Japan, China, and Germany. Additionally, we are concerned that abruptly ending the Space Program as we know it today will leave many Americans that work for the Space Aviation jobless. Lastly, will there be any impact on future research in the United States? And if so, how much of a substantial impact will this have on the future generation and future exploration of the out of space program and other research?

  21. What information will we use to answer our questions? • In order to determine if the closing of the Space Program will have an immediate or lasting impact on our society? We interviewed key personnels from the Space agency and Congress men/women. We have made several attempts to contact someone from the President's office to get direct feed back as to what the future holds for the United States in future space explorations.

We have also interviewed key scientists that have a unique interest in future endeavors of the Space Program who have given us their professional opinion as to what direction the U.S Government needs to take when deciding what directives to take. We did a lot of comparative reviews online research resources/ journals to help us understand what the outcome might be if the US was to abandon the current space program.

  25. What have we found out? • We have found out that if the United States NASA program shuts down we won't have the ability to be a competitive nation or country in the space program , and this will leave over 8,000 people jobless.

  27. Also thus, will interact with the ability to collect and record observations and data. Knowing that, the space program is shutting down this will interfere with the satellite's.

  28. What are the future plans for NASA? • For future plans of NASA they are hoping to make rockets and space craft. Also they want to travel to the moon and put a station there so they can learn more about living and life on different planets.

Conclusion • With all the information we have collected and recorded we have came up with our conclusion which is: Since its inception in 1958, NASA has accomplished many great scientific and technological feats in air and space. NASA technology also has been adapted for many non-aerospace uses by the private sector

  31. NASA remains a leading force in scientific research and in stimulating public interest in aerospace exploration, as well as science and technology in general. Perhaps more importantly, our exploration of space has taught us to view Earth, ourselves, and the universe in a new way. While the tremendous technical and scientific accomplishments of NASA demonstrate vividly that humans can achieve previously inconceivable feats, we also are humbled by the realization that Earth is just a tiny "blue marble" in the cosmos.
