Objectives • To launch the campaign in countries where RTHHC is not yet started • To Strengthen and revitalize the public health care systems • To advocate for increasing access, availability of health care services • To Enhance the accountability of the health care system to community • To build critical human resource for health as a human right

  3. Campaign Activities and strategies • Reviewing the commitment of the countries to RTH • Countries: Benin, Zimbabwe, India, Bangladesh • Strategy: i. Using RTHHC assessment guide to find out the declarations and commitments that the countries have signed to and using it as a tool to get organisations together. • ii. Analysis of health status and health system

  4. Launching the RTHC & follow up: • Countries: Zimbabwe, Benin • Strategies: Meetings, Using Community radio slots and TV, press statements, Health March, position papers

  5. Preparation of materials for the campaign: • Countries: Benin, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka • Strategies: To prepare posters, Pamphlets, T-shirts, translation of books and articles on RTHHC.

  6. Community monitoring of health services : • Countries: India, Zimbabwe • Strategy – Awareness on entitlements, producing resource materials in the local languages, wide distribution of materials and use local radios like FM and community radio., News papers

  7. Campaigns towards revitalizing primary health care • Countries: India, Zimbabwe • Strategy – Dialogue, advocacy, struggle and mass mobilization, evidence creating through surveys, filing petition under Right to Information Act, Public hearing at various levels, mobilize support of service providers through sensitizing and including doctors & Village health nurses association in the campaign, etc.,

  8. Training and perspective & skill building on Right to Health / Health care • Countries: Zimbabwe, India, Bangladesh • Strategy: Holding workshops, conducting seminars, training sessions and informal discussions where formal trainings are not possible. Mainstreaming RTH into the programmes of the organisations • Build RTH into the facilitation of PHM members

  9. Health Related Campaigns • Countries: Bangladesh • Strategies/specific issues: • Access and Right to Quality Drugs • Right to Safe Motherhood • Violence against women • Safe Motherhood

  10. Networking to strengthen PHM • Countries: Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and India • Strategy – Linking up the right to health care campaign with other campaigns (Right to food, campaign against water privatization, etc.,) involve many civil society groups from non – health background, human rights groups, etc . International groups identified are Plan International, Oxfam Nowib

  11. Linking with Global Right to Health Campaign • Countries: India and Zimbabwe • Strategy – Sharing experiences, collaborating in developing resource materials, supporting to the global movement, etc ., • linking with global health watch (Sri Lanka)

  12. Time-lines& Budget • The members will give feed back to the country PHM members and then the time-lines will be set accordingly. • Members will link with other NGOs at country level like Oxfam NOVIB, Plan • Budgets to be drafted at country level
