  1. Choosing the Right Motors for Robotics The robots are devices that can handle the particular physical task with the help of software designed especially for them. There are a vast variety of robots and robotic applications which have their own roles according to the needs. All the robots are designed in such a fashion to suit their application, their mechanical design, body, software, and electronics are specifically designed for that model. If you are looking for examples of autonomous robots then you can look at the robotic vehicles and robotic cars which have different design. The robotic cars are designed to move around plain surfaces where they can perform certain tasks that can be controlled by a remote somewhere or they could drive autonomously as they are equipped with sensors and actuators for the operation. This type of motion for a robot requires motors which control the movements of the robot. There are many kinds of robotic motors are available on the market which are used in the robotic applications.

  2. Every motor is used for a different purpose in the robotics industry. Not only they assist in the movement of robots but they also act as actuators in them. A robotic application can involve these kinds of motions and that is why all types of motors are necessary for a robotic project. Vertical motion Radial motion Pitch motion Rotational motion Locomotion Yaw motion Roll motion These motions can only be fulfilled with a specific type of motor and that is why all types of motors are required in the robotics industry. Here is a list of the motors which are required in the robotics and we will look closely at some of them. Types of motors AC motors Brushed motors Brushless motors Geared motors Servo motors Stepper motor AC Motors – These motors are driven by AC current and that is why they are used in the heavy robotic assembly line or manufacturing units where high torque is required. Brushed Motors – Brushed motors come in many variations and in robotics, the permanent magnet brushed motors are used. They are equipped with brushes that are used to conduct eh current between the source and armature. These motors are known for the high torque to inertia ratio, they can produce up to three to four times their rated torque.

  3. Brushless DC Motors – These are similar to the brushed motors but they are driven by the closed loop controllers and require inverters for the power. They have permanent magnets which rotate a fixed armature and they are controlled by the electric circuit which is designed especially for them. If you are working on a robotics project yourself no matter how small or big it is you need to have good quality motors in them to work perfectly without a hitch. For that, you need to log on to Basic micro and shop for your motor requirements from there. They are one stop solution for all your motor needs and programmable motor controller, in short, they have everything you need for your project.
