  1. Conjugated Polymer Ultrathin Films: Synthesis, Electropatterning, and Nanopatterning of Precursor PolymersRigoberto C. Advincula, University of HoustonDMR 05-04435 We have successfully demonstrated the electropatterning and nanopatterning of conjugated polymer materials based on precursor polymers and SPM methods. Utilizing a number of polymers like polyvinylcarbazole and copolymers of carbazole and thiophene derivatized polyvinylphenols, we have demonstrated control of parameters such as writing speed, voltage bias, polymer composition, etc. This was demonstrated on both conducting Si-wafers and Au surfaces. We have reported interesting corona patterning phenomena based on polymer composition and cantilever tip residence time. The investigation of complex patterns and circuits are underway.
