  26. Business Benefits • Save administrative time. No more calling for CC numbers. • Set up and advertise an event and….. • Watch the registrations build • Watch $$ roll into your chapter’s bank account • All without human intervention! • Save web site admin time! No Web Master required. • Say bye bye to your web guy (or gal … but that doesn’t rhyme)

  27. Business Benefits (cont’d) • OK… that’s what One PMI does, but does it benefit a chapter financially? • A chapter may save money due to no longer needing web hosting • Especially true of smaller chapters

  28. Business Benefits (cont’d) • OK… that’s what One PMI does, but how does it benefit the chapter (cont’d) • Collaborate with participating chapters (Albuquerque, Denver, Nova Scotia, Oshawa, Newfoundland & Labrador) • Monthly call • Structured enhancement discussions, voting, prioritization • Transparent processes • Operational and enhancement costs documented • Benefit from the economies of scale

  29. Costs • What are the costs? • All costs based on number of members (all US$) • Set up • $4/member – one time fee • Monthly operational • $.04/month/member • Enhancement fees • $.25/month/member (should go down with more chapters joining) • Payment Gateway • PSiGate (U.S. and Canada) • or Authorize.Net (U.S. only)

  30. One PMI Costs

  31. Payment Gateway Costs • PSiGate • Authorize.Net

  32. Costs • Why should larger chapters buy into this? More members means a higher cost! • Think of it as sharing • Think of it as supporting smaller chapters • Think of it as contributing to the common good • More members usually means more human and financial resources. • Costs per member can only go down when more chapters join

  33. PMI NS Experiences • How did this benefit PMI Nova Scotia? • Hard costs • Previous fees • About CA$75/month for hosting and email • One PMI fees (based on 400 members) • US$119/month for hosting and email • Administrative Savings • Per event – 20 minutes per person registering • Almost NO Accounts Receivable…. • So NO Bad Debts and NO effort wasted on collecting bad debts!

  34. PMI NS Experiences • How did this benefit PMI Nova Scotia? • Distribution of work • Each Director responsible for their area on the site • Advertising income • We have four firms advertising with us. $150/month income! • We had this before, but it was much more work to set it up. Now it is self-serve content management like the rest • Content Management • Immediate content changing – if you can use Word, you can change your web site

  35. PMI NS Experiences • Any warnings? • Not everyone is technical! • Some don’t want to manage their own content. • Training • Takes more time than you think. • Fees per event • Should go up to cover credit cards costs if you don’t now allow credit card payments • Members afraid of fraud • Some don’t want to add their CC# • Some orgs want to invoice • This involves manual process, but can be done • Financial balancing processes will change

  36. How Do I Get Me Some of This? Fill out this survey on the Region 3 site. Someone will contact you within a week. Action may take longer depending on what is in the queue Sign up for PSiGate

  37. Conclusion • The One PMI Site is a specific Collaboration Portal, also known as a “Vortal” (“Vertical Portal”). • The SharePoint site you get with it is a general Collaboration Portal. • Both of them together are a formidable communication and administrative tool. • Once you get it, you will wonder how you ever managed without it! • These Collaboration Portal sites are like peanuts!

  38. Demonstration • What do you want to see? Thanks for your kind attention!
