  4. STATOILHYDRO MARIN, VTS THE VESSEL TRAFFIC SERVISES DEPARTEMENT IS AN INTEGRATED PART OF STATOILHYDRO`S SECOND-LINE EMERGENCY RESPONSE CENTRE. THE SENTER IS ON DUTY AROUND THE CLOCK AND THEREFOR A KEY POINT OF CONTACT IN THE FIRST PHASE OF AN EMERGENCY. ITS PRINCIPAL DUTY IS CONTINUOUS RADAR MONITORING OF THE GROUP'S OWN OIL AND GAS FIELDS OFF NORWAY, BUT THIS SERVICE IS ALSO PROVIDED FOR FIELDS/INSTALLATIONS OPERATED BY OTHER COMPANIES.

StatoilHydro Marin • Surveillance in a crowded traffic area • Inform vessels on collision course with offshore installations • Alert installations within an hour • Use of advanced technology: • 50 radars integrated • 52 installations; StatoilHydro 51 Shell 1 • Digital maps • Automatic alarm • 10 Automatic Identification System (AIS) transponder • 19 VHF stations

Radar monitoring of fields/installations operated by both Statoil and other operating companies on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) Operators with navigational certificate class 1 ( master), experienced from most of the maritime industry. On duty 24 hours, 3 operators daytime and 2 operators at nightshift. Providing services to Norwegian authorities (Main Rescue Central, NOFO, Norwegian Coast Guard, coast directorate and Petroleum Safety Authority Norway,) Statoil Marin
