What is a Nonprofit? • Tax-exempt Organization • Many are located in Washington, D.C. to lobby government on behalf of their causes • Derive revenues from foundations, government grants, membership dues, and fees for their services • Nonprofit is not a business nor part of government and they rarely pay Federal taxes
