  3. Few things to know. . . . • 2 semesters each year • 4 courses each semester • 1 course successfully completed will give you 1 credit • 1 credits equals 110 hours of study • Early start=Early finish

A Comparison of LevelsLanguage Based Courses Academic Applied Marks in the 60’s for reading and writing EQAO scores in grade 6 were level 2 or below Requires additional assistance and support from teachers and parents. Difficulty completing homework Gr 8 teacher recommends this level. • 70% or higher in the course in grade 8 • EQAO scores in grade 6 were level 3 or higher • Works independently • Self-motivated • Conscientious about completing assignments • Grade 8 teacher recommends this level.

A Comparison of LevelsMath Based Courses Academic Applied Marks lower than 75% in grade 8 EQAO scores in grade 6 were level 2 or below Relies on a calculator or multiplication charts for basic facts Difficulty completing assignments Learns best from a practical hands-on method. Gr 8 teacher recommends this level. • 75% or higher in math in grade 8 • EQAO scores in grade 6 were level 3 or higher. • Good mastery of all basic math skills. (multiplication, fractions, managing multi-step problems) • Strong math vocabulary. • Conscientious about completing homework and studying. • Grade 8 teacher recommends this level.

  12. Changing Levels • It is important for students to start in a level where they can be successful. • It is not fun to fail. • Students will be more successful in a level that best fits their learning style. • Students can change levels.
