  2. PREAMBLE:

  3. “Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:” (1Cor. 2:6-7)

  4. “This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.” (Jam. 3:15-17)

  5. The Bible recognizes Four kinds of Wisdom: • Earthly/Natural Wisdom • Sensual/Intellectual Wisdom

  6. Devilish/Diabolical Wisdom • Heavenly/Divine Wisdom • But divine wisdom is above all other kinds of wisdom– Dan. 5:11-14/ Dan. 6:3/ Gen. 41:38

  7. The Spirit of wisdom is an impartable virtue – Deut. 34:9/ 2Tim. 1:6-9 • But wisdom is a personal asset – Pro. 9:12

  8. It takes the oil of wisdom for our lamp to shine – Pro. 21:20 • But each lamp that must shine must have its own oil – Matt. 25:8-9/ Eccl. 8:1

  9. THE BIBLE: THE FOUNTAIN OF DIVINE WISDOM

  10. The law of the Lord is perfect, making wise the simple –Ps. 19:7 • The Holy Scriptures makes wise – 2Tim. 3:15

  11. We understand more than the ancient by meditating on the Word – Ps. 119:97-100

  12. But what is Divine Wisdom worth? – Job 28:7-28

  13. Capacity to level out challenges (vs. 9) • Creates solutions and makes discoveries (vs. 10) • Stops evil from prevailing – vs. 11/ Dan. 6:10-22

  14. It is ‘out of this world’ order of wisdom (vs. 13/21) • Not available in the knowledge market (vs. 15-20)

  15. Swallows up destruction and death – vs. 22/ Dan. 3:16-28 • Accessible only by the fear of the Lord – vs. 28/ Ps. 111:10/ Ps. 25:14

  16. It is packaged in a book called the Bible – vs. 27/ Lk. 11:49 • It is far above all natural, diabolical and intellectual depths – Job 28:14/ Dan. 5:11-12/13-14/ Dan. 6:3-4

  17. SUPREMACY OF DIVINE INTELLIGENCE

  18. Access to the mystery of creation by Moses – Gen. 1:1-3/ Deut. 35:9 • Access to divine secrets as in the case of Daniel – Dan. 2:16-23

  19. Supernatural Insight into matters as in the case of Joseph – Gen. 41:38-44

  20. Intellectual prowess as in Daniel, Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego, who were ten times better than their colleagues – Dan. 1:17/21

  21. DIVINE WISDOM IS A GIFT FROM ABOVE

  22. Let no wise man glory in his wisdom – Jer. 9:23-24 • Wisdom is the gift of God in our earthen vessels – 2Cor. 4:7/ 1Cor. 1:26-29

  23. Everything precious in our lives is a gift of God – 1Cor. 4:7

  24. The gift of wisdom made Solomon the greatest king of his day – 1Kgs. 4:29-34

  25. THE SEVEN SPIRITS OF GOD

  26. Jesus possessed the 7 Spirits of God – Is. 11:1-2/ Rev. 5:6

  27. But out of the 7 Spirits of God, 5 has to do with wisdom, while the other 2 represents power:

  28. The Spirit of Wisdom – Deut 34:9 • The Spirit of Counsel – 1Kgs. 3:16-28

  29. The Spirit of Knowledge – Jn. 14:26 • The Spirit of Understanding – Jn. 16:12-13

  30. The fear of the Lord – Ps. 111:10/ Rev. 9:10/ Ezek. 36:37/ Rom. 8:13 • Dan. 6:1-5/ Dan. 5:11 • Gen. 39:9/ Gen. 41:38-41 • 1Thess. 2:10/ 2Pet. 3:15

  31. The Spirit of the Lord, which is the anointing of the Holy Ghost empowers us to live as a sign and a wonder – Lk. 19:10/ Acts 1:8/ Lk. 4:18/ 1Sam. 16:30

  32. The Spirit of Might connotes health and vitality – Rom. 8:11/ Jn. 6:63

  33. This must be why Christ is being called the wisdom and the power of God – 1Cor. 1:24
