Represent parents/carers of children and young people (0-25yrs) with additional needs/disabilities in Hampshire • Offer parents/carers a way to get involved in participation to influence discussions and decisions • Goal is to improve services, support and outcomes for children and young people with additional needs and disabilities locally • Members of National Network of Parent Carer Forums in the South East region Hampshire Parent Carer Network

Work closely and in partnership with Parent Voice, who are supporting us as we move towards being an independent parent led organisation • HPCN parent reps sit on various workstreams, taskgroups, strategic boards • All parents/carers can be members of the Network and get involved with participation activities from providing feedback through to acting as a HPCN parent representative at meetings • Over the next 12 months wanting to get more parents involved, and to ensure we are truly representative • Website www.hpcn.org.uk and facebook/twitter Hampshire Parent Carer Network

Annual Report – Sharon Smith • 2013/14 – another busy year for HPCN! • Increased engagement with practitioners across Education, Health, Care and Adult services • Developing independence and charitable status • Raising awareness and improving representation • Key projects: • Transition Autism • Short breaks Therapies • CAMHS SEN reforms Hampshire Parent Carer Network

The year ahead: • Charity status & recruit new trustees • SEN reforms implementation (locally and regionally/nationally as part of SE7 Champion role) • How to engage with even more parent carers (traditionally hard to reach groups, geographically across the whole of Hampshire) • Business as usual workstreams/projects • Short breaks cuts • Projects already identified: Childcare consultation, CAMHS retender, Continence services Hampshire Parent Carer Network

Update re HPCN committee and Charitable status • Currently a constituted group • Saw need to change to provide greater protection and open up funding opportunities • Sub committee established to consider options • Sought external legal advice to help with decision and process • Decided to become Charitable Incorporate Organisation (CIO) Hampshire Parent Carer Network

  13. Agree new CIO Constitution and register with Charity Commission • Two organisations running parallel (existing Committee continues until constituted group is dissolved) • Pass resolution to dissolve existing constituted group and transfer all assets to new CIO once registered • New Board of Trustees set up with initial appointments from existing committee – Sharon Smith and Gail Bedding Co-Chairs, Juliet Annesley-Gamester and Juliet Cheriton-Gerard • More Board appointments to be advertised and recruited upto a maximum of 12 • Elections for 1/3 trustee posts will take place at the AGM in 2015 Hampshire Parent Carer Network

  14. Changes to committee • Debra Bratt and Juliet Cheriton-Gerard are stepping down from their roles of vice-chair and treasurer • Debra Bratt and Ray Daniel are stepping down from the committee • Gail Bedding is taking on the role of Co-Chair of the committee (as part of our succession planning) • We welcome to Caroline Edmondson who is new to HPCN & joining the committee as our Treasurer • New committee 2014/15: Sharon & Gail (co-chairs), Caroline (treasurer), Jules, Alyson, Juliet, Paul until this organisation is dissolved when CIO formed

Some very important Thank You’s • Committee members - past and present • Rose Road and Parent Voice for supporting us in the last year and making a commitment to further support us to independence • Contact A Family and National Network of Parent Carer Forums for ongoing support and assistance • Hampshire Council (Children & Adult services) and the 5 CCGs (health) for making a commitment to parent carer participation to improve outcomes Hampshire Parent Carer Network
