  2. Story Elements • This story is part of Revelation, the last book in the Bible, and is a vision from John of Patmos. John talks about the second coming of Jesus. • There are “seven seals” of the apocalypse, and the first four consist of 4 horsemen. • They are commonly known as Conquest, War, Famine, and Death.

  3. This story is important in history, because it helps provide a possible picture of what end times will be like, and also provides writers with material to draw from and allude to.

  4. One work that references this allusion is The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse by Alan Ireland.

  5. The allusion does enhance the work, because it helps provide hilarious situational irony.
