  1. Blowing bubble gum bubblesby Sarina

  2. Blowing bubble gum is rather complicated ,and there many , many steps. To chew and blow bubble gum we use a lot of muscles.

  3. The muscles used in chewing gum and blowing bubbles. • Temporalis • Masseter • Lateral pterygoid • Medial pterygoid • Orbicularis Oris • Genioglossus • Hyoglossus • Palatoglossus • Digastric muscles

  4. Bones and joints used in chewing gum • Mandible • Temporomandibular joint (TMJ)

  5. To begin, the diagastric muscles push down the mandible thus opening the mouth. Then when gum is inserted in the mouth, chewing action begins. The scientific name for chewing is mastication.

  6. Blowing the bubble To form the bubble the genioglossus, hyoglossus, palatoglossus ( tongue) push the gum to the front of the mouth against the back of the teeth. Next the digastric muscles open the jaw slightly. The tongue pushes the gum out of the mouth a little. When the tongue is removed the lungs push air into the gum causing it to streach.
