Key Findings American Institute of Architects Nationwide Voter Survey 2009 CAUSE OF GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS You may have read or heard that some people believe greenhouse gas emissions are a threat to the environment. What do you think is the top cause of greenhouse gas emissions today? Would you say it is… 2009 2007 Exhaust from cars and trucks 36 40 Emissions from aerosol cans 1 1 Emissions from buildings 4 7 Emissions from power plants 21 19 Natural causes 22 15 Other 7 10 COMMENT: While vehicles and buildings have declined somewhat as greenhouse gas emission culprits, natural causes has increased. Based on both the 2007 and 2009 surveys, voters nationwide still do not see buildings as a major cause of the problem. That message has yet to penetrate the public mind.

The International Green Building Code • Joint Partnership between the AIA, ASTM, and the ICC • Commercial Only • The code will address: • energy efficiency (including solar and other advanced technologies) • water use efficiency, • materials and resource use conservation, • indoor environmental quality and overall building impact on the environment. • The development approach will be the same used for any new I-Code with the final draft placed into the current 2012 Code Development Process
