  1. BBBSLI MENTORING PROGRAMS

  2. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island (BBBSLI) is committed to empowering children facing adversity by establishing long-term, professionally led one-on-one relationships that have a significant and long-lasting positive influence on their lives. Their aim is around building transformative connections between mentors and mentees. BBBSLI provides a wide range of mentoring programs adapted to the individual requirements and interests of both mentors and mentees. These programs provide opportunities for personal development, academic success, and emotional assistance, establishing the framework for a brighter, more promising future. Whether via school-based mentoring, community-based programs, or specialized projects, BBBSLI remains committed to empowering adolescents and cultivating good, life-changing connections.

  3. Community-based mentoring programs The most important way to provide Littles, or youngsters ages 7 to 16, with direction and meaningful interactions is through community-based mentoring programs. These programs link Littles in a conventional one-to-one match with compassionate adult mentors, or Bigs, who are at least 21 years old. To guarantee compatibility and safety, volunteer mentors go through extensive screening, interviews, and training before being connected.

  4. One-to-one match program A kid who might benefit immensely from the advice and support a mentor can provide is carefully matched with an adult volunteer from the community through a one-to-one match program. This pairing stems from the understanding that a child's growth may face obstacles due to certain family or environmental situations. Maintaining a good relationship between a mentor and a youngster requires consistency.

  5. Sibling Support Program A vital element in negotiating the challenging landscape of parenting a kid with special needs is sibling support. It's crucial for parents to prioritize the needs of their other children while balancing their own expectations. Within our Community-Based mentoring effort, our Sibling Support Program takes care of this important component by matching siblings of persons with special needs with committed volunteer mentors

  6. Site-Based mentoring programs Through these programs, volunteer mentors can interact with children who require guidance and assistance in an organized and encouraging atmosphere. Regular matchmaking between mentors and mentees, overseen by a committed program team member, promotes friendships and constructive role modeling. These programs, which include the counties of Nassau and Suffolk, are designed for different age groups and environments.

  7. Sports Buddies The Sports Buddies program provides a dynamic platform for Littles and Bigs to engage via sports and physical activities, promoting not just healthy lifestyles but also critical mentoring connections for youngsters facing obstacles. By combining the joy of athletics with the supervision of mentors, this project fosters a supportive atmosphere in which young people may develop physically and emotionally.

  8. Partnering with your spouse is the best way to volunteer. You may make a difference in a child's life without giving up time with your partner by becoming a Big Couple. More than seventy Little Brothers are in need of a Big Brother or Big Couple. You have the power to change lives, so take action now.
