As if life was not bad enough for “le petite caporal” (remember he was retreating from Russia coming back to Europe with a depleted military), while he was in Russia there was a coup attempted against Napoleon named after the man who devised it.

As if life was not bad enough for “le petite caporal” (remember he was retreating from Russia coming back to Europe with a depleted military),while he was in Russia there was a coup attempted against Napoleon named after the man who devised it. • The Malet Coup was suppressed and the conspirators were executed (including a few people that got unintentionally tricked by Malet)

  2. Resources devoted to the wars in Russia and the Peninsular War as well as lives lost and hardships faces left the French people weary of Napoleons rule. When the forces of Russia, Austria and Prussia took Paris in 1814 he personally abdicated from the throne and went in exile to Elba

  4. The Battle of Waterloo • Guess who’s back? Back again? Napoleon’s back. Call the Brits to defend. • His supporters in France had been developing a rebellion against Louis XVIII and Napoleon escaped Elba in plain sight(all) • Within 100 days he had reassembled an army and attempted to remove the Prussians and British from French territory but was narrowly defeated once and for all at the battle(41:20-51:00). He was exiled for the remainder of his life to St. Helena island.
