  1. The Great Wall of China By Leah Saperstein and Gabriella Ross

  2. The Great Wall of China is one of the 7 Wonders of the World. With the Great Wall about 4,000 miles long, just sitting there it protected China.

  3. Emperor Qin Emperor Qin was the first emperor. One of the things he wanted was to protect China. Qin demanded enemies and even criminals to build Great wall. Qin demanded that the wall had to be 30 feet wide and 50 feet high. The people who worked on the wall were not paid and not given much food. 3,000 people worked on the wall but it still took 1,700 years to build. When it was done Qin was very happy. The wall was 3,700 miles long. If it weren’t for Emperor Qin the wall would not have been here now.

  4. Watchtowers and Beacon Towers Watchtowers and beacon towers were used for when the enemies would come. The watchtowers would be filled with food, water, and would be warm so the Chinese people could hide from the enemies in the watchtowers. They would look out the windows from the watchtowers to look for the enemies. That’s why is called a watchtower. The beacon towers would send off signals to approach that enemies were coming. If 100 enemies were coming the beacon tower would let out one gunshot and one fire. Watchtowers and beacon towers helped out China a lot.

  5. The Structure of the Great Wall When Emperor Qin’s people made the Great Wall, the Great Wall was brand new. Today most of the sections are disconnected. 1/3 of the sections remain from the Qin Dynasty. That means that section is very old. That’s because the pieces are just old or broken. The Great Wall has 100 perhaps 1,000 disconnected sections.

  6. Why Emperor Qin’s People Built the Great Wall There was a purpose to why Emperor Qin’s people made the Great wall. The purpose was to keep out invaders (Mongolian warriors) who wandered the grasslands of China. Another reason is that other tribes would charge into Chinas cities and steal grain, silk, pottery, and other goods. The Great wall would help to kill tribes when they barged into China. The Great wall was built for many reasons especially to protect China.
