  3. Eligibility Requirements • Organizations must be a: • 501(c)(3) nonprofit, or • Unit of state or local government, or • Federally recognized tribe or tribal community • Have a 3-year history of programming

  7. Challenge America May • Fast-Track 8 Step # 1 Earliest Allowable Project Start Date: January 1, 2015

  8. How To Apply: Step 1 Step 1 of 2: Submit through Grants.gov (May 8, 2014): • SF-424 (Application for Federal Domestic Assistance) This is the only item you submit through Grants.gov. If it is not successfully submitted by the deadline you will be unable to submit your other materials in NEA-GO.

About Grants.gov: Step 1 • Grants.gov is an online, government-wide electronic application system through which all applicants must submit. • Don’t wait until immediately before your deadline; submit no later than 10 days prior to the deadline. • You are required to change your password every 60 days. • Obtain a DUNS number and register with SAM (System for Award Management) in order to use Grants.gov—allow at least 2 weeks for registration or renewal. • See www.grants.gov for more details or call 1-800-518-4726.

ChallengeAmerica • Fast-Track Work Sample Tips: • Samples should be recent, of high quality, and as relevant to the project as possible. • Well-edited work samples are preferred. • Do not submit marketing materials / PR materials unless you are applying under the Unified Promotion project type. • Read the NEA’s work sample guidelines: arts.gov

ChallengeAmerica • Fast-Track Work Sample Tips: • Work samples should clearly reflect the project type that you have chosen: • Guest Artist: Sample of work by the primary artist(s) • Public Art: Sample of work by the lead visual artist • Unified Promotion: Sample of work by firm/consultant • Design: Sample of designers' previous work, • architectural schematics, proposed sites, • existing conditions

  24. ChallengeAmerica • Fast-Track Field of Competition: • Results from the FY14 National Competition: • Received 294 Eligible Applications • Funded 148 Projects • Peer Review Process (NEA Readers): • Readers are arts experts from across the nation. • Readers will not conduct additional research.
