  1. Southwark Cyclists Healthy Rides • A long-running programme of easy rides on Saturday mornings. • Last Summer we were funded for 6 rides so that professional Cycle Instructors could accompany rides to help new or infrequent cyclists. • Ten newish cyclists, plus lots of regular, if infrequent, cyclists came on the rides. • People cycled more after coming on rides (see separate chart) • Overall in 2012 we ran 30 rides. • The programme continues – see separate notice.

  2. Infrequent cyclists cycled more after going on Healthy Rides How often did you cycle before? How often do you cycle now? Daily 4-6 days a week 2-3 days a week Once a week Once a month Less than once a month 11 cyclists replied to the questionnaire. Each line represents one cyclist.

  3. Who are SOUTHWARK CYCLISTS? • Southwark Cyclists are part of the London Cycle Campaign. • We aim to promote cycling in the borough. • A key activity is campaigning for better cycling facilities. • More cycle paths, more cycle storage and so on. • Currently we are collaborating with Southwark Council on the completion of the Connect 2 project and on the creation of a network of “Green Ways”. • We are also part of the consulatation on Cycle Superhighways that Transport for London are creating. Three are in Southwark, including one through Peckham and Camberwell and the other through Surrey Quays and on to London Bridge. • And we organise rides, short healthy rides and longer rides. Above.
