What made HELSINKI possible: • 2004 SB Yudhoyono election. • Strong political will of SBY & Yusuf Kalla ; new political situation in Jakarta. • Changes in GAM • 26 December 2004 : TSUNAMI (129,000 died;37,000 missing), devastation; GAM declares unilateral ceasefire; opening of the region (NGO’s). • Personal involvement of Pdt Martti Ahtisaari. • Invitation by Government of Indonesia • Europe & ASEAN states committment.
