  2. The first Music Magazine Billboard – First issue printed in 1894, but became well known in 1936. gradually evolved into a radio airplay and record sales chart. The magazine is aimed at music professionals however, is available to the general public. A weekly Magazine, and last recorded there were 16,327 Billboard magazines in circulation.   3. Rolling Stone In 1967 Rolling stone magazine was created- fortnightly. It documented music as an important part in the culture of youth with reflective articles about music and social change and the political concerns about music. Less about factual information and more about the culture of music In 2012 there were a total or 1,464,943 Rolling Stone magazines in circulation The very first Rolling Stone magazine cover.

  4. Smash Hits Created in 1978 and was aimed at teens- fortnightly. This magazine was important to the development of music. It was the first genre-specific magazine (pop) The very first Smash Hits magazine cover.

  5. Kerrang! Introduced in 1981 and was more music orientated than Smash Hits. Kerrang!’s monthly competitor was Metal Hammer. The price of the magazine when it was first released was 50p, and last recorded there were 42,077 in circulation.   6. The Face Launched in May 1980- monthly. It offered the colourful layout of Smash Hits but aimed at a slightly older audience, embracing music and also fashion and lifestyle. Layout consisted of: lots of images, detailed articles, pages full of celebrities, musicians, fashion shoots and advertising.   7. Record Collector Became available in 1980 Was filled full of adverts and contained sources of buying and selling. Started out as a glossy A5 publication, but was launched in 2003 in full colour in an A4 magazine format.
