  2. Homeless Statistics: • San Mateo County 9.3% • San Francisco County 7.9% • Santa Clara County 3.9% • Point in time surveys typically show that 15% of homeless individuals are children 13-17 PROGRAM GOAL: Eliminate homelessness among youth aged 16-21 in SMC.

  4. Daybreak - YOUTH HOMELESS SHELTER

Daybreak - YOUTH HOMELESS SHELTER • 12-month program: • Transitional housing • Independent living skills • Mandatory savings to secure permanent housing • Diminishing youth employment opportunities led to 6-month program now 12-month : • Backlog of homeless youth needing housing • Unemployed youth return to being homeless

SMCYOUTHCONNECT Program Overview • 3-month internship leading to future employment or referrals, combined with assistance finding & securing permanent housing • Partnership with businesses with high standards of excellence and commitment to reducing social disparities • Pre-internship training for both residents and business staff • Mental health support for residents YOUTHCONNECT

Program activities • Coordinate peer support groups, monthly MH evaluations & opportunities for self-care and therapeutic expression based on youth input • Develop partnership terms and agreements, consult with mental health team to develop professionalism workshops, cultural humility training & evaluations • Recruit local businesses, Junior Colleges & develop webpage • (StarVista/YOUTHCONNECT)
