  3. Learning objectives • Consider the way in which audience feedback can inform the content of a publication • Evaluate the process of magazine designing with specific reference to representation, conventions and the skills which have been developed throughout the process

  6. Activity In pairs (with the person to your left), look at your finished print and identify how two different social groups have been represented (10 mins)

  10. Activity • In pairs (with the person to your right), answer the following questions (10 mins): • Which media institution will you choose and why? • What other titles does your chosen institution currently produce? • How will your magazine fit easily into your chosen institutions portfolio? • After the 10 minutes, join another pair and for 5 minutes, discuss your answers

  11. Task Objective: Establish whether your magazine is appropriate to its target audience. Activity: Design a questionnaire (15 mins). Ensure that you think about the kind of questions you are going to be asking. Survey other members of the class (10 mins)

  12. Analysing results In pairs, analyse the results of your survey and start to identify patterns. Are you surprised with the outcome? What would you change in future and why?

  13. Further reading What’s required? Conventions – how does your magazine adhere to these? (left third, cover lines, bar code etc.) Representation – how is gender, age and class represented in your publication? Which media institution would you pitch this to and why?
