  1. 2007 process for SoE data reporting into WISEUpdating the old EIONET priority data flow on water

  2. Other data sources Data from MS Wider assessments,SoE, Belgrade, EEA reports on climate, water resources etc. CSI and other indicators Eionet water data = SOE data in WISE From reporting to assessment From Peter Kristensen, EEA Defining parameter in reporting sheets PRIORITY DATA FLOW

  3. Background • WISE (Water Information System for Europe) launched 22.03.2007 • http://water.europa.eu • Successfull reporting of data on the identification of monitoring stations (WFD Article 8) by MS in March 2007 • Reporting sheets agreed upon • Working group D (02.05.2007) and • WFD-CIS Strategic Coordination group (15.05.2007) • Reporting sheets and results of the SoE drafting group presented to EIONET National Focal Points 23.-24.05.2007

  4. Surface water 37040 total number of surface water stations, of which: 1217 LW = Lake 17721 RW = River 347 TW = Transitional 1748 CW = Coastal 16007 NA = Not found in Art.5 table (Water bodies) Only ~800 stations seems to be common stations in the WFD Art. 8 Surface Water monitoring networks and the Waterbase/ Eionet river and lake stations. Among these 42023 groundwater stations, only 3169 stations have "EIONET" mentioned somewhere under "Other networks" or under "International networks".

  6. How to develop a coherent and representative set of stations for SoE data in WISE? • Countries should answer: • The current Eionet stations included in the WFD monitoring networks must be clearly identified • The representativity of the Eionet stations for different water types within different water categories must be checked and explained • If the current selection is not sufficient to be representative: Additional stations have to be selected within the WFD networks to become new Eionet stations?

  7. Background for test reporting in 2007 • Reporting procedure for SoE data to WISE will be similar to EIONET-water reporting, but... • Selection of new stations based on the new WFD monitoring networks • New technical system under development • EEA will send request for SoE data reporting to all participating countries • The excercise is voluntary, but EEA hopes for wide participation and feedback • Deadline for 2007 reporting is postponed until end of 2007 • Data flow will be treated as a ”test case” in EIONET • NFP workshop early October • discuss further development of WISE • SEIS (Shared Environment Information System)

  8. Test reporting of SoE-data to WISE in 2007 • Agreement on the selection of stations • Reporting on data from those stations for the revised and agreed reporting sheets: no. 1, 2, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16
