Hall D Science Group F381 Elke Aschenauer Group operates from within the Physics Division, charging their 12-GeV related technical and coordinating work to the 12-GeV costbook, and their scientific work to the Hall D and accounts within the Physics Division for their Research work and any non-technical scientific work. Physics Division pays for all science-related travel, 12-GeV Costbook for project-related travel. In the Hall D 12-GeV Staffing Plan there are funds for: • 3 scientists • 0.5 engineer • 1 designer • procurements • One full-time engineer and two designers is a must for a new Hall. • With the chosen solution we free up 0.85 scientists from the 12-GeV Costbook, essentially creating funds for an additional 0.5 engineer and 0.5 designer. The last “D” must come from a procurement reshuffle.

8. Potential Issues (I am sure there are more…) • AWP within Physics Division for “Hall D” (termed MESON?) essential. • “Hall D” in Physics Division, personnel matrixed to 12 GeV project. • Can Physics Division help the 12-GeV project out and make the one new hire a permanent position? (Note: O.k. with Larry if this works long-term in the zero sum rule of “Hall D” staff salaries and MESON procurement funds) • Can we find one more re-assignment within Halls A/C? • Is the suggested split of travel funds o.k.? • Can “Hall D” get secretarial help from within the Physics Division? (alternative: split 12-GeV and Physics Division Funds for Hall D secretary?) • Officially reassign part of Fernando Barbosa and Ed Jastrzembski in FY08? Already mention their names/roles in present Hall D Org Chart? • SC Solenoid work: plan needs to be developed/confirmed. Funds exist within MESON procurement plans. Elton Made sure this all fits within the zero sum rules of 12-GeV Costbook and MESON funds (manpower and procurements), making some slight modifications to 12-GeV/Physics Division manpower split. Next job: in January start projecting long-term Hall D staffing needs.

9. Slightly revised slides based upon various discussions to optimize plan, note that some numbers are not exact as Elton changed some fractions of FTE’s around to end up with zero-$ changes for both 12-GeV costbook and Physics Division salaries, but I don’t have his spreadsheet readily available.
