Food Quality Protection Act of 1996 (FQPA) • Drafted in 1996, signed on August 3rd, 1996 by President Clinton after being unanimously passed in Congress. • National • Served as an amendment to the Federal Fungicide, Insecticide and Rodenticide Act (FIRFA) and the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA).

Requirements/Accomplishments of the FQPA • Stricter safety standards, especially for infants and children • Expanded scope of protection • Complete reassessment of all existing pesticide tolerances • Implemented the reregistration program that reassesses health standards for existing pesticides. • Led to significant advancements in public health/ environmental protection in America.
