  2. Teenagers at Risk The project started in 1999 to give a helping hand to the teenagers coming from orphanages. After they turn 18, teenagers found themselves pushed to make a living. They had no family, no place to go, no job and no support to become an integrated member of the society.

  3. World Vision Offers a Chance Orphanages fail to give personal attention and care for children. Due to this, teenagers are not able to learn acceptable social behaviors and the necessary skills for an independent life. Through Youth in Transition Project, World Vision offered a chance for personal growth and development.

  4. Testimonial: Magdalena “I met World Vision 4 years ago, at their support groups. It was in a winter. Carmen and Vali became my spiritual parents when they baptized me.I’m no longer helpless, I feel really confident now” (Magdalena, 22 years old)

  5. Magdalena joins Program Magdalena came out of wedlock into the world and her mother, a 17 years old girl, abandoned her in the maternity unit. Magda has two step brothers, whom she has never met. They have the privilege of living in the natural family. Magda does not keep in touch with any of her family members, including her mother. Magda was included in World Vision’s Youth in Transition project and Life Skill Center became her home later on.

Testimonial: Rada “I like to come at the support groups because World Vision people talk to me and paint with me…” (Rada, 16) Rada was abandoned at birth and has lived her entire life in an orphanage. Her dream is to spend school vacation in her family. She met her parents several times but they actually do not accept Rada at home. The girl has a limit intellect and a low capacity of relating to people.

Testimonial: Nicolae “I start each day thinking of God and I Know that however lonely I might be he is always with me” ( Nicolae, 23) Nicolae was abandoned in early childhood because of his family’s acute poverty. He has four other siblings, two of them with serious mental impairments. He benefits of World Vision’s programs for 3 years. Currently he is working in an electric components factory and he is able to earn part of the money he spends on rent and meals.

  8. Testimonial: Lucica Lucica is an adolescent raised in the orphanage. She is mentally disabled and has a speech disorder, which prevents her from communicating with others and also from becoming part of the group. Her colleagues are often avoiding her because she cannot express intelligibly her thoughts and emotions. Even if she finds difficult to be together with her peers, she does her best to become involved in the activities. She finds the power to smile and she is friendly. Lucica is 16 years-old.
