  1. RECYCLING AT HOBAN

  2. What Do We Recycle at Hoban? • Paper • Aluminum cans • Plastic beverage containers • Glass beverage bottles • Metal cans (cafeteria)

  3. PAPER • Blue bins in every classroom • Let Mrs. Bates or Mrs. Vrobel know if you have a class during the day that is missing a blue bin (or has more than one!) • Library, Teachers’ Lounge, Attendance Office • All Administrative Offices

  4. PAPER • Emptied weekly • Taken to dumpster for paper • If close to full, inform teacher immediately • If paper spills, we will have to bag it!

  5. ALUMINUM CANS • Emptied multiple times each week – a shared duty with the maintenance staff • Black lids with circular holes • Money collected benefits the Burn Unit at Akron Children’s Hospital

  6. ALUMINUM CANS • Bring entire container from cafeteria to dumpster • Double lined with black trash bags • Place only in the CAN DUMPSTER • Money collected benefits the Burn Unit at Akron Children’s Hospital

  7. PLASTIC AND GLASS • BE the 1 http://www.saswma.org/bthe1.htm • Summit Akron Solid Waste Management Authority • Green bins in cafeteria, teachers’ lounge and some public areas of the school

  8. PLASTIC AND GLASS • Bring entire container from cafeteria to dumpster • Double lined with clear plastic bags • Place only in the BE THE 1 dumpster • Free program through the county

  9. WHAT ELSE SHOULD WE ADD? • Be thinking of ways Hoban can improve its recycling program • What else can we collect? • Where are the bins?

  10. ASSIGN ROOMS • You will have a regular room or rooms to recycle paper or cans • Tour of the recycling areas! • Questions?
