  1. Star Power Task: • Open up google docs and make a powerpoint • First page: Set up in Question/Problem, Research, Hypothesis, Test, Analysis of Data, and Conclusion format • Your mission’s problem: You are researching how you can use the SUN to produce ENERGY on EARTH

  2. The two methods you can use are A) Radiation from the SUN B) Trying to create nuclear FUSION, which is a method only practiced by stars: Hydrogen and Helium are forced together to produce massive amounts of energy

  3. In your RESEARCH section, you should include at least 2 facts from Astronomy and the Seasons which you will apply to your device, NASA.gov, and at least ONE other PRE-APPROVED website Your HYPOTHESIS contains the device you will build, and what it will be using solar energy to accomplish

  5. Your group should also construct a TELESCOPE, which is an essential tool in locating celestial bodies….particularly other stars. You may used supplied items or bring in your own materials. BRAINSTORM, and see your instructor for assistance Pick one other star in the universe, particularly one close to our solar system, and write a short paragraph (4 to 5 sentences) about

  6. A) orbiting planets B) size compared to our sun C) when it was first discovered

  7. What you should have to be graded • The project in the Scientific Method format on Google Docs • A constructed telescope AND written diagram • A written 4 sentence paragraph on another star close to the sun • Your constructed solar energy device AND written diagram

  8. Materials You can supplied materials (k’nex, solar panels, construction paper, metric ruler, scissors, and modeling clay
