  2. Examples of Tempera in History: • Super popular in the Middle Ages was egg tempera: using dry pigment mixed with raw egg yolk to make a permanent paint. Oil paint took over during Renaissance. Adoration of the Magi Lorenzo Monaco, 1422

  5. BIO • Takashi Murakami was born 1962 in Tokyo, Japan. Has BFA, MFA, and PhD from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He is a traditionally trained artist.

  6. Hmmm…this looks familiar… In 2003, partners with Louis Vuitton (Marc Jacobs is designer) for a line of handbags. They are limited editions, the cheapest cost $250.00 for a wallet and sell out.

Murakami Painting • Using Murakami’s colorful palette, you will be creating your own painting of an animal in his style (think anime inspired, flat shapes, bright colors, pattern, etc.) • PLEASE USE YOUR OWN IDEAS! Be inspired but don’t copy something • You will have a foreground, middle ground, and background • You will be using tempera on paper • You will create 3 sketches in your sketchbook prior to starting the painting.
